Maitri

Challenges

Dalit, Adivasi and other vulnerable women who are marginalized in the main stream women's movement in India. They suffer discrimination and violence not only because of their gender but also caste. These women most commonly face verbal abuse, physical and sexual assault and domestic and caste based violence.

Aim

This project is a part of the wider Maitri network (www.maitrinetwork.org) and aims to raise awareness about the above issues and to empower these women to speak up against injustices committed against them and to campaign for positive and lasting change.
The network engages with men as key stakeholders and partners for lasting change with government, judiciary, and communities.
